WHEN AND WHERE

What are the official dates of the workshop?
September 8th - September 9th, 2014
Registration opens at 7:30 AM. The workshop sessions begin at 8:30 am promptly on both days.

Where will the 2014 AAFEA Training Workshop be held?
George C. Marshall Conference Center at the Department of State
21st Street between Virginia Avenue and C Street
Washington, D.C. 20520-0000

The George C. Marshall Center is located at the 21st Street entrance of the Harry S Truman Building (21st and C Streets, NW). Workshop attendees should report to the 21st Street entrance.

Non-State workshop attendees should allow 30 minutes on the days of the workshop to obtain a visitor's badge.

DIRECTIONS TO THE WORKSHOP

We recommend that workshop attendees take the Metro or a taxi to the Marshall Center. Public parking in this area is sparse.

By Metro
This is a 10-15 minute walk from the Metro or you can take a taxi from the Metro.
Take the Orange Line train to the Foggy Bottom station. When you exit the station from the escalator, turn right onto 23rd Street. Walk down 23rd Street to Virginia Avenue NW and turn left onto Virginia Avenue.
Continue walking until you reach 21st Street. Turn right onto 21st Street.
The Marshall Conference Center is on the right well before you reach C Street. It is part of the State Department building.
Enter the small security pavilion to be screened and you then will be directed into the building.

By Taxi
Request drop-off on 21st Street between C Street and Virginia Avenue NW. This is the east side of the State Department.

PARKING

Public parking in this area is sparse. We recommend that workshop attendees take the Metro or a taxi to the Marshall Center.

If you must drive, parking can be secured in public garages and on the street around the State Department.

RESTRICTIONS ON ELECTRONICS

Please be aware that computers, tablets, mobile hotspots, and e-readers are not allowed in the Marshall Center. Cellphones are permitted.

LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON

The Leadership Luncheon on Monday, September 8th will be held at the Institute for Peace, which is located two blocks from the Marshall Conference Center. We will walk to the luncheon, so please bring or wear shoes appropriate for walking. If it is raining that day, please remember your umbrella!

Workshop personnel will lead you to the Institute for Peace. Additionally, a map will be included in your workshop booklet.

MEALS, GENERAL

Lunch will be provided on both days. If you have a dietary restriction, please let us know by COB Thursday, September 4.

ADA ACCOMODATIONS

Please inform AAFEA if any ADA accommodations such as sign language interpretation or special audio amplification equipment are required so that the appropriate arrangements made be made.

SECURITY PROTOCOOL
Due to enhanced security considerations at the Department of State, workshop registrants were asked to provide:

His or her driver's license number and state of issuance; and

Date of birth (month, day, and year).

IF YOU DID NOT PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION, please arrive early on Monday. You will be documented and routed through additional security protocools prior to admittance to the workshop.







 



WORKSHOP CONFIRMATION

If you have not received such a document, then it is imperative that you confirm your registration with AAFEA immediately (866-600-4894).
